How importing works

The import feature lets you bring existing paper log entries into MX Ledger by uploading photos or scans of your log book pages, or by emailing them to MXL Bot.

What you can upload

You can upload JPEG and PNG image files as well as PDF files. When you upload a PDF, all images in the PDF are extracted and processed as individual image files.

How much to upload

When initially importing an aircraft’s records, upload as much data as you have available. Aircraft with over 50 years of history and more than 12,000 hours of flight time have been successfully processed in a single import.

How your files are processed

Once you start an import, each image is reviewed to determine whether it contains log entries. Images without entries (such as covers and empty pages) are filtered out automatically. The remaining images are analyzed to extract the log entry data and assign each entry to the correct aircraft component. The process will also attempt to identify log entries that span multiple pages and combine them into a single entry.

Reviewing results

This is an AI-driven process, so extracted entries may contain errors. See AI accuracy for details on what to expect. The entries are added to your aircraft records automatically when the import completes. Review each entry on the import results page before relying on the data.

Duplicate handling

The process will look for similar log entries on the same date. When a duplicate entry is found, the existing record will be retained. The import results will still show the entry, however, it will link to the existing record (duplicates are not created).
