Selecting a type certificate
A Type Certificate (TC) is an authority’s approval of the design of an aircraft or component, confirming it meets applicable airworthiness standards. Each TC has an associated Type Certificate Data Sheet (TCDS) that records the specific conditions and limitations required to meet those standards for each approved model.
Recording the correct type certificate on a component establishes the design approval that applies to it. MX Ledger’s services, including the AI Chat Assistant, rely on the type certificate to provide accurate information specific to your aircraft. It is your responsibility to verify that the type certificate you select applies to your specific component model.
Selecting a type certificate
When a component has no type certificate on record, the component edit page shows a list of matching type certificates based on the component’s make and model. Each entry links to its data sheet. Review the data sheet to confirm that the component’s model is listed among the models covered by that type certificate.
Once you have identified the correct certificate, select it to apply it to the component.
If no matches appear, check that the component’s make and model are filled in correctly. Updating those fields and returning to the edit page will trigger a fresh search.
MX Ledger currently includes type certificate data sheets from the FAA.

Changing a type certificate
If the wrong type certificate was recorded, you can remove it and select the correct one.
To do this, navigate to the component edit page and remove the type certificate from the type certificate section. Once removed, the selection form will reappear and you can choose the correct certificate.
